hey new yorkers! every year NYCares holds their annual Coat Drive and this year i decided to not only hold a coat drive at my job, but also sort coats. i can't tell you how amazed i was to see the number of coats in the warehouse. to date they had given out 34,000 coats and there were many more to sort.

i gotta say i left last thursday feeling really tired, but really good. it's one thing to donate, but it's another thing to load hundreds of coats into the vans and trucks of charities and churches. it's a dirty job (believe that). and people donate everything in a coat drive.

if you've got a few hours (2-3 hours), you can contact NYCares and help sort the remainding number of coats. they need volunteers through january 30th. go to nycares.com for more information.
